This neuromuscular approach was conceived by Barnard Jankelson in the 70's using a mandibular tracking device, a T.E.N.S. to relax muscles and surface electromyography (EMG) to check muscle function. Since then , clinicians all over the world have contributed in the development of a unique technique for the diagnosis of occlusion related problems as well as for the treatment of complex TMD.
